Kenneth Theodore Baker SP-4 US Army RetiredFebruary 23, 1949 - August 18, 2010
Kenneth Theodore Baker passed away August 18, 2010 at Cape Canaveral Mr. Baker was a person who truly enjoyed life and really enjoyed having his family and friends around him. Ken was a recipient along with his wife Pati, of Florida Today’s “Heart of Gold” award. He held such offices as President of the Vietnam and All Veterans of Florida, state coalition; Chairman of the Veterans Memorial Center and Chairman of the Brevard Veterans Council; President of Vietnam and All Veterans of Brevard; Treasurer of Vietnam Veterans of Brevard Reunion Committee; Treasurer of the Veterans Assistance Facility; member of the DAV Post 109; Life member of “Dustoff”; Team captain for the VVB Marksmen Pistol Team. He was a charter member of the Vietnam and All Veterans of Brevard, member of Troop B, 1st Cav, The Vietnam and All Veterans of Florida State Coalition, member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, member of the Brevard Veterans Council. Mr. Baker was a retired Army Vietnam veteran with service in Vietnam in 1969. His awards and decorations include: the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Purple Heart, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 device, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation w/Palm, Expert Badge w/machinegun bar, and Marksman Badge with Rifle and Auto Rifle bars. Mr. Baker was also the recipient of Brevard Veteran’s Council Distinguished Service Medallion. Ken was also the newsletter editor for the Vietnam and All Veterans of Brevard. He was awarded Vietnam Veteran of the year 1990/1991in the state of Florida. His strong willed personality and his ability to focus on the problems facing the veteran’s community throughout the country will be sorely missed by all. Ken is survived by his sons, Dan Baker of Tampa and Joey Baker and wife Heather of Merritt Island; his daughter Tina Greenfield and husband Nathan of Cocoa; brother Cliff Baker; his sisters Dolores Witham, Elaine Volz and Sandy Martin; his grandchildren Benjamin, Brianna, Nathan Jr., and Ellen Patricia. Ken follows his wife Pati into heaven, she passed away in 1999. Funeral InformationA Memorial Service will be held at the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center on Sunday August 29th at 2:00 PM.
