As large as Mary's heart was, it was severely damaged in December 1990. The summer of 2004 was
not kind to her and she entered Melbourne Terrace Nursing Home where she remained a resident
until her passing Tuesday August 17, 2010 5:25 a.m.

She was caring and kind and loved by all who knew her. She never wanted to be of any trouble to
anyone, always putting others before herself and taking keen interest in their welfare. She attributed her survival to her heart specialist, Dr. Norbert Scharff and to her friends and caregivers at Melbourne Terrace. They sent her Home on the wings of their love...

She was my Mother and she was my Best Friend. She raised my Brother and I on her own and often went without so we did not. She rarely ate from a plate or sat at the table. "I don't want to mess up another plate," she would say. "I'll just eat out of the pot." It wasn't until I was older that I realized there was nothing left in the pot to eat...

That was the kind of woman my Mother was until the very end...
