Catherine "Peggy" Pellicoro

September 27, 1925 - January 22, 2012

Melbourne

Catherine “Peggy” McGraw Pellicoro, 86, died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at William Childs Hospice House.

Peggy was born in Scranton, PA on September 27, 1925 and migrated to Miami in 1959. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Special Education from Barry University and was a dedicated Special Ed teacher in the Dade County School System for many years. After retiring, she supervised interns for Barry University.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and her brothers and sisters Tony, John & Winnie McGraw.

A past president of the Sierra Club and a past president of Beta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Peggy had a highly developed community spirit. She was extremely active both in her community and her church in Miami. She was the first woman lector in Dade County and was involved in the TV Mass in that area.

Peggy came to Melbourne in the early 90's and quickly resumed her dedication to community and church. She participated in making lunches for AID's patients at Daily Bread and brought communion to them and other shut-ins. She was a long-term member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and volunteered in many aspects of church life. Peggy was head of the first Bereavement committee, served on the Parish Council and was a member of the Council of Catholic Women.

All who knew Peggy treasured her generosity of spirit, her out-going nature (Peggy never met a stranger) and her quick and timely sense of humor. Peggy had a passion for traveling and was able to visit many countries in Europe, South America and the Far East.

Peggy touched many people, giving comfort, advise, help and her always ending response “God Love!” Friends and family can now say “God Love, Peggy!”
